Today we had an exclusive chance to interview the upcoming artist, Guy Hurd.
What is your legal name and age?
Brio Marcel Hurd Jr, I am 18 years old, Born on March 20 2004
What is your stage name and how did you come up with it?
My stage name is Guy Hurd, the name Guy came from my mother when she was pregnant with me and Hurd is my government last name, I stuck with Hurd because I have a great sound and I’m an expert at hearing.
Where are you from?
I am from Chula Vista California (San Diego County) Born & Raised
Where are you now?
I am located in El Cajon California
Why did you first start making music?
I started making music because my father is also a recording artist and I loved being in the studio with him and watching him get creative, also I want to reach people and help them get through what there going through. And I also have a great & fun personality.
Who would you say inspired you the most, as an artist?
My father and Eminem inspired me the most as an artist, Eminem reached a lot of younger audiences in his race and he taught me anything is possible.
Do you remember the first rhyme you wrote?
The first rhyme in a song I ever wrote was called “Get The Money Get The Bread Gotta Stay Fed or You Gone Get The Led”
Where and how do you work best?
I work my best in my own home studio with no lights in my room. I also don’t even try my best I let my creativity come out naturally. If. I try to hard the art doesn’t come out how I expect it.
Have you heard the theory that some musicians write their best music while they’re depressed or going through a bad time?
Yes I Have heard the theory that some musicians write their best music while they’re depressed or going through a bad time. My music comes out 10 times better whenever I’m going through hardships. Also I feel that i would be able to reach a fan base that would be able to relate to me and I also feel like I could change lives.
What’s the best advice you ever received?
The best advice I have ever received was “If people don’t remember the chorus in your song, nor it isn’t attention grabbing, the song is not a hit”
What is still your biggest challenge?
My biggest challenge is still finding great punchlines and trying to do riffs in my R&B Tracks
How would you describe the music that you typically create?
I would describe the music I Create as Loving, Inspiring, Uplifting, Sentimental and Sensual
Who would you most like to collaborate with?
I would love to collaborate with Kevin Gates and Polo G
If you could go open a show for any artist who would it be?
If I could go open a show for any artist, It would be Polo G, I feel that me and polo G have the same energy when it comes to Performances.
What’s your best advice for handling criticism?
My best advice for handling criticism is to actually listen and take the pieces of the advice that makes sense yo you and apply them to your career.
If you could only listen to 3 albums for the rest of your life, what would they be?
The top 3 albums i would listen to for the rest of my life would be Eminem-Revival,- Kendrick Lamar, Mr Moral & The Big Steppers and Lil Wayne “The Carter 5”
What’s the coolest, most important show you’ve played to date (the kind of show you’d like to play more of)?
The coolest most important show I have ever performed at was at an R&B Block Party in at the Quartyard in Downtown San Diego, I had a fun time on the big stage and there was a large audience that really enjoyed my performance.
