ENHYPEN Talks Showing Off Their ‘Boyfriend Sides’ on New Album ‘Romance: Untold’

ENHYPEN is fresh off the release of their sophomore full-length album, Romance: Untold, and to celebrate, they sat down with Billboard‘s Tetris Kelly to discuss their growth as artists on this project.
“First off, our lead single is titled ‘XO (Only If You Say Yes).’ Previously, our songs showcased powerful and dark sides of us,” Jungwon explained of the inspiration behind Romance: Untold. “This time, we wanted to reveal more of our ‘boyfriend’ sides. The album title, this lead single gives off a very romantic vibe. That’s why the album is titled Romance: Untold. You can feel the sweetness, right?”
Heesung added, “‘XO’ is a song that we did with JVKE. He produced the song, and the first time we heard it — it was his voice in the demo. We felt like it was such a different type of style and we were so interested. This album is something that we never really have done before. The song ‘XO’ is the perfect song to portray that. It’s really catchy too.”
The album is a follow-up to the seven-member boy band’s 2021 debut, DIMENSION : DILEMMA, which debuted at No. 11 on the Billboard 200 chart. Romance: Untold “marks the beginning of a new chapter for ENHYPEN. The pioneering storytellers have previously captivated audiences with their series of narratives BORDER, DIMENSION, MANIFESTO, and BLOOD where they ventured across boundaries, confronted themselves in a complex world, took the first step forward to connect with their peers, and made sacrifices for the blood-bound ‘you,’” per a press release that announced details of the project last month.
