North West, Kevin Smith & Jake Shane Star in FKA Twigs’ ‘Childlike Things’ Music Video

FKA Twigs has reunited with North West to release a music video for their collaboration, “Childlike Things,” and they’ve also called on Kevin Smith and Jake Shane to guest star.
In the clip, Smith and Shane act as music industry executives as Twigs tries to prove her artistry to them. When they don’t see the vision, Twigs brings in North to amplify the energy. The 11-year-old then appears, rapping in both English and Japanese, proclaiming, “Hello, my name is North/ From California to Tokyo/ Jesus the King/ Praise God/ Jesus is the only true God.”
“OK, it’s fire,” Smith ultimately admits — though he’d rather Twigs focus on short-form social media content rather than a music video.
FKA Twigs previously opened up about the firstborn daughter of Kim Kardashian and Ye (formerly Kanye West) ended up on “Childlike Things,” explaining that she needed a collaborator who could match and enhance the “childlike energy” she was tapping into on the track. “It [needed] someone who has that tenacity, who has that strong point of view that you have when you’re 11,” Twigs shared on Instagram. “Then I saw an interview with North West, and she was so confident. It suddenly occurred to me that I would’ve loved to have a friend like North who could speak up for themselves.”
She continued, “I was like, ‘OK, it has to be North, she has to put her point of view on the song.’ She came and wrote about her faith, which I think is really powerful.”
“Childlike Things” ended up being one of 11 tracks on Twigs’ new album Eusexua, which debuted at No. 24 on the Billboard 200 — her highest peak on the chart to date. North had previously worked with her dad on Vultures 1‘s “Talking” and Vultures 2‘s “Bomb.”
