Today we caught up with Strictly Sour for an exclusive interview.
Can you tell us about your background and what led you to become the president of this media team?
I have a strong background in music
Been around musicians all my life
And watched how they operated and got ready for gigs and shows since I was young
My grandparents were traveling musicians and that’s how they survived and made a living.
Along with my own musical journey
I’ve been traveling hitting stages and making connections with multiple people in different facets of the music industry. I have a keen eye for photography and videography and can feel how things should be set up with the help of my experts on my team.
So stepping into this role was natural and putting in the time and hours along with support I try to give everyone I meet lead to this new found role as president, which in honored.
What is your vision for the media team, and how do you see it evolving in the next few years?
My vision is to bring a new light to what is already working on the team
They have been going hard for many years and I plan to bring my own style of work and presentation to the team
Something that not only compliments but exceeds expectations.
With my growing network I plan to tap into markets with other artist and help lead the way for getting more exposure to those working behind the scenes and on the main stages.
Our evolution will be epic I think we will continue to grow and bring in more opportunities to people who deserve a shot and help development other artist in all areas they need
What are the biggest challenges you face as president of the team, and how do you overcome them?
I think the biggest challenges will be the division of time and the balance that needs to occur with this new title
You always have to make sure to not spread yourself to thin, we have to learn to delegate correctly to others within the team, be mindful of your intentions with every step you take in and out the scenes
And just provided good quality work and art that will last lifetimes.
I keep a strong head on my shoulders, very grounded in my inner work and stay very in the moment when I can , to help the transition of these challenges to make less of an emotional impact, that way I can always move comfortably and correctly.
How do you ensure that the media team stays innovative and relevant in an ever-changing digital landscape?
The great thing about having a team is that there is multiple people with multiple personalities
So I would always try to captivate the outside interests of others to bring new ideas and formulas to the table
Let’s get together and talk about other things besides the work and brainstorm outside the box and see where the conversation takes us,
Let’s figure out what our individual strengths are and see how we can mess them with this ever changing landscape like you said.
How do you balance creative content with the business and strategic goals of the organization?
Meetings meetings meetings
Zoom, face to face, phone calls whatever to get the information across the board
To get the goals set out
So there’s a checklist we can all cross off at the end of the day
So basically communication is key to working with a team in an organization like this.
You want to set that foundation down in these new relationships and make the best with what you have till you grew together unified.
Play the part needed so we all grow
Share your ideas and output on situations and have those conversations that might change the dynamic in a great way.
Can you share an example of a successful media campaign or project you’ve led, and what factors contributed to its success?
The most successful campaigns I’ve done was the ones I did for myself to get myself noticed and moving around certain crowds to gain exposure
I successful gained access to promoters and event coordinator and DJs that all help lead me in the direction I am in now,
I stayed consistent with my socials
Made sure I always supported the next artist , made sure I celebrated the next artist
Payed my fees to whatever I had to to get into wherever I had to, then once I got into those place and different platforms, I made sure I made my efforts count, it’s all on how you make things and take things, networking is key and leaving an impression is critical.
How do you handle crises or negative publicity, and what steps do you take to protect the organization’s reputation?
People are always going to say what they say, if you know your conducting business correctly, then sometimes the best thing you can do is ignore it,
Most people want to complain because they didn’t get what they felt. They deserved to get out of the opportunity.
Unfortunately, opportunities don’t always work that way
You must put in the extra time, extra effort and extra work to make an impression and be memorable
And sometimes that’s where these people fall short so in return, they get upset and want to criticize or judge the next man
So again, that’s why I always think it’s best to ignore it unless you’re gonna come speak to me directly to my face which I will always lay out the information show you and then proceeded to explain how you felt short and how you could do better for next time
What advice would you give to someone aspiring to lead a media team, and what skills do you think are most important for success in this role?
My personal advice would be to get out there get your equipment together get your business cards together. Make sure you create a budget. Figure out your schedule and then grind like no other people introduce yourself to people support. People celebrate people do things that provide value always worry about the money now , your time will come if you follow these directions
I think that the skills that are most important are being coachable willing to learn , persistent in their pursuit of New and ever changing information
I think it helps to be social and I think it helps to be a person so you can move in and out of crowds in different platforms
And product and equipment knowledge is essential as well when you’re in this business
