Metallica will be teaming up with the American Red Cross for blood drives on the upcoming spring 2025 U.S. dates on the band’s ongoing M72 tour. The band announced on Monday (April 7) that its foundation, All Within My Hands, will be encouraging fans at select shows on their spring run to give blood to help ensure that hospital patients “never have to wait for critical, lifesaving care.”

“Thank you, Metallica and the All Within My Hands Foundation, for standing with us in support of patients in need. We’re honored to be part of this effort and grateful for your commitment to making a lasting impact!” the Red Cross posted on X about the “A Sea of Hearts Beat as One Unified” effort that promises fans a limited-edition T-shirt for their efforts (while supplies last).
“As seasons change, the need for blood is constant and even tends to ramp up around summer holidays,” read a statement from the band. “Donors will have the chance to keep hospital shelves stocked across the country,” by giving blood on the tour, with several drives slated to take place inside the venues while the band’s crew builds the stage.
The Red Cross’ Darren Irby added, “The Red Cross is incredibly appreciative that Metallica is helping fuel the blood supply this summer. The band and their foundation are committed to making every tour stop a better place, and this selfless act of rallying fans to donate blood will leave a lifesaving legacy to so many communities.”
Donors of all blood types are encouraged to make an appointment to give by clicking here; donors must be 17 in most states (or 16 with parental consent where allowed by state law) and weigh at least 110 pounds and be in general good health to be eligible to donate. Metallica will be back on the stage on April 19 at the JMA Wireless Dome in Syracuse, N.Y.
