BLACKPINK‘s JENNIE is looking for love in all the wrong places on her moody single “Love Hangover.” The collaboration with Dominic Fike that dropped on Friday (Jan. 31) is the third single from the K-pop superstar’s upcoming Ruby (March 7) solo album and it finds the singer fighting an attraction to someone she hates to love.

“We say it’s over/ But I keep f–king with you/ And every time I do, I wake up with this love hangover,” JENNIE sings on the slow-burn, midtempo pop tune — seemingly inspired by Diana Ross’ equally simmering love-struck 1976 song of the same name — with Fike coming through in the second verse to double-down on the track a release describes as capturing “the struggle of breaking free from a connection that won’t let go.”
“She gon’ leave me, but she wants to keep me on, what’s up with that?/ I don’t even really got time for all that s–t right now, l’m a baby father/ And all them jokes she told at dinner last night ain’t had me dead, I was playing possum/ And when the waiter brought the check, she said, ‘Let’s head to mine’ I said, ‘Okay, awesome,’” Fike raps over the laconic beat.
The track was accompanied by a video shot in Mexico City and directed by Bradley & Pablo (Harry Styles, Lil Nas X) in which JENNIE goes on a series of dates with Riverdale star Charles Melton that inevitably end in chaos, from an attack by a fearsome kaiju that leaps through a drive-in screen to a fancy dinner that ends with the singer choking on an martini olive.
“Love Hangover” follows on the heels of previous singles “Zen” and “Mantra” from the album that will feature collabs with Childish Gambino, Doechii, Dua Lipa and Kali Uchis.
