Dr. Martens released a new limited-edition boot in honor of the 65th anniversary of their classic 1460 boot.
To celebrate the occassion, the brand is only releasing 1460 pairs of the burgundy Made in England Pascal Love Letter boots, which are priced at $460. So, what so special about its recurring 1460 number? Well, the name of the 1460 boot pays tribute to the date on which the shoe was first made: April 1, 1960.
The Love Letter boot pays homage to the 1460’s cultural significance and the 65 years of bootmaking at the brand’s Northamptonshire factory in England. The boot’s first production date, which it was named for, is even stamped on the tongue.
“Dr. Martens 1460 boots have always been about more than just footwear — they’re a symbol of individuality, resilience, and rebellion,” Dr. Martens’ global design director Adam Owen shared in a statement. “Over the years, they’ve been worn by everyone from the punks of the ’70s to the grunge scene of the ‘90s, and now by today’s creatives and fashion designers making waves. Dr. Martens has always been a blank canvas for self-expression. We don’t tell people how to wear them; we simply create boots that are built to last and let the wearer tell their own story.”
The boot is made with full-grain Classic Calf leather from C. F. Stead, a Leeds-based tannery that has produced premium hides since 1904 and started working with Dr. Martens in the 1980s. The leather’s rich burgundy color and blend of natural waxes and oils give it a subtle pull-up that will develop uniquely to each wearer over time. To round out the limited-edition boot, the silhouette includes signature design features like the popular yellow welt stitching, grooved sidewall and unique undersole pattern.
The limited-edition Dr. Marten Made in England Pascal 1460 Love Letter boot is available now on the brand’s website, as well as below. Shop quickly before the limited pairs are all gone.
