Lizzo Slams White House for Using Social Media to ‘Troll Us’: ‘I Want Real Change’

Lizzo had some thoughts about social justice to share Monday (April 21), calling out the White House’s social media practices and pushing for “real change” in a string of posts on Bluesky.
While discussing politics with followers on the app — which she joined in November amid a wave of people protesting the Elon Musk-owned X — the “About Damn Time” musician posited that people can’t make meaningful change “unless you pose a real threat.”

“I want real change, and I know what it takes to see real change on a systemic level,” she wrote. “Protests bring attention to demands. Marches without demands bear no fruit. Demands without a plan or an ultimatum aren’t threatening to any regime.”
The Yitty founder also told a fan asking how to to take action that the key to dismantling harmful systems is to “Make their pockets hurt!”
“This system was built by white people to their economic benefit,” Lizzo continued. “The corruption happening today is white supremacy. It cannot be destroyed from the outside. White people have to come together & educate themselves on the system & be willing to be uncomfortable in it. Unify.”
Lizzo has long used her platform to speak about politics and activism. She was a vocal supporter of Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign in 2024, and earlier this month, she subtly criticized sitting POTUS Donald Trump by wearing a “TARIFFIED” T-shirt while performing on Saturday Night Live — a clear dig at the politician’s new economic policies.
Speaking of criticizing Trump, the hitmaker went on to call out the chief of state and his administration in another post on Bluesky Monday. “THE WHITE HOUSE IS USING SOCIAL MEDIA TO TROLL US,” she wrote.
“THE PRESIDENT DGAF ABOUT TONE POLICING HIMSELF,” Lizzo added. “REPUBLICANS ARE TALKING OUT THEY NECKLACE TO JOURNALISTS. WE HAVE TO BE BOLDER.”
The Grammy winner’s posts come at the start of a new musical era, with Lizzo dropping singles “Love in Real Life” and “Still Bad” in February and March, respectively. Last month, she announced that she had officially put the finishing touches on her upcoming followup to 2022’s Special, sharing studio photos on Instagram and writing, “ALBUM IS DONE YALL!”
