Gabby Williams openly welcomes trans athletes to the WNBA, a direct answer to Boosie’s recent comments against them.
Gabby Williams just told Boosie exactly where she stands on trans athletes in the WNBA, and it’s the opposite of his.
The Golden State Valkyries forward and French Olympian addressed reporters directly on Thursday, making her stance on the debate impossible to miss.
“I would welcome a trans athlete on my team or against my team any time. I don’t think it’s a problem in the world. It’s just another way to kind of attack trans people,” Williams said.
Williams pointed to former WNBA player Layshia Clarendon, who became the league’s first openly nonbinary athlete in 2021, as proof the league can handle it.

Boosie took the opposite side just days earlier, posting a furious message on X aimed straight at the league.
“PLEASE KEEP THEM JUWANNA MANS OUT THE WNBA‼️U WAS MADE A MAN TO PLAY AGAINST ONE 💯GO TRY OUT FOR THE NBA N MATCH UP AGAINST WEMBY‼️AT THIS POINT YALL R HATING ON WOMENS SPORTS‼️YALL GO TO FAR N ITS SAD .THESE GIRLS BEEN PLAYING AGAINST WOMEN THEY WHOLE LIFE ‼️JUST LOOK AT THAT GIRL FROM FRANCE THATS A DAM LINEBACKER,” he wrote.
AllHipHop previously reported that Boosie has been vocal on this issue for years, dating back to Trump’s 2025 executive order on women’s sports.
The back-and-forth traces back to Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham, who kicked off the entire debate in an ESPN profile published July 21.
“I want to protect young girls in a locker room, or young girls in sport who shouldn’t have to go against biological men,” she told the outlet.
Her comments set off rallies outside Fever arenas in multiple cities, both for and against her stance.
A Seattle Storm co-owner was suspended and fined after confronting teenage fans holding pro-Cunningham signs.
Minnesota coach Cheryl Reeve pushed back directly, saying trans athletes aren’t the real problem in women’s sports. Some fans have branded Cunningham a “hero to young girls,” while others call her comments “blatantly transphobic.”
The latest flashpoint is Julie Tét###, a French transgender center who said she wouldn’t turn down a WNBA opportunity despite receiving no offer.
Cunningham says she’s ready to move past the debate and get back to basketball, telling reporters this week that the story has become a distraction.
