An Exclusive Interview with Rising Producer Starcloak

Today, we chopped it up with the talented producer Starcloak, for an exclusive interview.
What is your legal name?
My Name is Erik Osborne
Where are you from?
Born and raised in a little town called Orting, WA, and I have grown very familiar with the surrounding areas in Western Washington Such as the big cities Seattle, Tacoma, Auburn, and Puyallup. I also have been spending a lot of time in Buckley lately, especially down Main Street which helped me get the inspiration for my EP Lost in the City those light stripes down Main Street just take you away and I MIGHT be able to play a show in Buckley next year.
What’s your latest release?
My latest release is my second studio album Cloaked in Midnite which is out NOW the new album takes Starcloak in a new direction and a new era for my music which takes you on a roller coaster ride with the fast pulse techno beats to nice chill night ride music style like and 80’s music influence songs.
If you could go open a show for any artist who would it be?
Honestly, I would love to open for any artist that is related or somewhat related to my music because playing music live is a dream for me and a goal for me but I would love to open for bands such as Journey, The Weeknd, INNA, Swedish House Mafia and much more but that’s just to name a few.
What are you focusing your time on now (e.g., recording a new record, touring the Midwest, writing, etc.)?
Right now just working on promoting my newest album and continuing the story of Starcloak. Every album and EP I have made so far is one big storyline and I’m continuing the story with my second album Cloaked In Midnite and will be continuing the story with a third album at the end of this year or the beginning of next year give or take but I am trying to get it out by December 6th, 2024 and the album will be named after the first song I created Lost Ones
What is your favorite song to perform?
I haven’t played live YET but I can imagine it to be one of my newest songs A New Dawn especially that song as the opener to my live performance I believe that would get the crowd going and get people excited for the rest of the concert with that one song
Are you religious? If yes, what is your religion?
I am a Christian and being one really helps me with life itself but it also helps me with my storyline with the new album which is about Limbo (which is a catholic belief) and it’s a reflection of life and in this case, the story I’m doing the person did not live up to a great life and died with Sorrow, Regret, Pain, etc. and they are on their way to let that go and find redemption.
Where and how do you work best?
I usually work on my music during the Night when the day is ending and the only thing left you have to worry about is sleeping which as an artist is optional but I just find it calming and relaxing and makes you want to do more and that’s when the ideas start to flow in for my music most of my music is about Midnite I even did an EP on that as well.
Who would you say inspired you the most, as an artist?
Honestly, too many to name such as family, and friends that helped inspire me but also other musicians one of them is Journey this band made me fall in love with music, to begin with, and they helped me to kinda dig into that 80’s synth sound into my music epically their album Frontiers which I have to say that is my favorite album of all time and I will mention another one would be The Weeknd I started to listen to his music at the end of last year and wow something about that man’s music and lyrics that just really hits you and his album Dawn FM is the first album I listened to of his and that pretty much made me a fan from right there and After Hours and Starboy where just the cherry on top for me.
Why did you first start making music?
I used to be a YouTube creator (Spoiler alert it didn’t go well) and I wanted to get out there with something cool and unique So I created a project called Floating Blue Phantom FX and it’s currently on every streaming service right now but I wanted to do something bigger and something different so I created my first song for Starcloak in December of 2023 and the song is called Lost Ones which got a decent amount of plays for a first song as a new artist and ever since then I love what I’m doing and I don’t want to stop anytime soon I’m just getting started.
