Today, we met up with the upcoming artist Larry Sylvester, for an exclusive interview.
What is your legal name and age?
Larry
What is your stage name and how did you come up with it?
The gospel. I came up with the name because I always wanted to spread the word of God and his kingdom.
Where are you from?
I’m from West Palm Beach.
Where are you now?
Colorado
Why did you first start making music?
Well, I always had the love of music. I mean ever since I was a kid, my family always pushed me to sing, especially “I Believe I Can Fly” lol.
Who would you say inspired you the most, as an artist?
Jamie Foxx and Michael Jackson.
Do you remember the first rhyme you wrote?
The first song I wrote was a rap song. It was called “J-Town.” I wrote it when I was like 9 years old.
Where and how do you work best?
I work at a pizza restaurant as a dishwasher, and I work best as a team.
Have you heard the theory that some musicians write their best music while they’re depressed or going through a bad time?
Yes, I believe many musicians write music when they’re going through things in life—pain or any type of struggle. I believe that’s when the best music comes out.
Talk me through your creative process.
Some people say I’d sound like a early Eminem/Slim Shady when he first came out with the Slim Shady Ep. In 1999 and other people say I’d sound like myself and different from other artist
