Swift’s Billboard 200-topping Tortured Poets featured the lyric, “We declared Charlie Puth should be a bigger artist,” on its title track. The “Attention” singer sat down with SiriusXM this week, where he admitted that his first reaction after hearing the line was disbelief.
“It’s quite the compliment, by the way. I thought it was AI, because AI just seems to be everywhere,” he recalled, before adding, “Then, I heard a clip of it, and thought that’s way to smart for AI, that’s way too clever — the way that it rhymed.”
Of course, the major musical shout-out is not the only exciting thing to happen to Puth this year. The 32-year-old star tied the knot with Brooke Sansone tied the knot on Sept. 7 at Puth’s family home in Montecito, Calif..
“I love you Brooke…I always have,” Puth captioned his post announcing the news. “With you I am my very best. I promise I’ll love you everyday in this life, and even more when we move on to our next.” The couple have been dating since June 2022, though they both grew up in New Jersey — a fact they paid tribute to by using Bruce Springsteen’s “Jersey Girl” as their first-dance song, according to Vogue. After a year and three months together, Puth flew from Los Angeles to New York City and proposed to Sansone at 11:11 p.m. on Sept. 5, 2023.
