Madonna Parties With Selena Gomez & ‘Emilia Pérez’ Cast, Calls the Film a ‘Masterpiece’

Madonna is loving Emilia Pérez.
The Jacques Audiard-directed film, in which Selena Gomez appears as Jessi Del Monte, held a New York Film Festival screening at Alice Tully Hall of the Lincoln Center on Monday night (Sept. 30), and after the event, the Queen of Pop spent time with the cast and choreographer, Damien Jalet.
In a photo posted by Netflix to Instagram, Madonna is seen smiling alongside the Emilia Pérez crew, and giving Jalet a hug — calling the dancer and choreographer a “genius” on her Instagram Stories.
She continued the praise for the film on her Stories, deeming Emilia Pérez a “masterpiece” with “unbelievable performances.” See her thoughts here.
This past spring, Gomez and castmates Zoe Saldaña, Karla Sofía Gascón and Adriana Paz collectively won the best actress award at Cannes Film Festival for their work in Emilia Pérez.
The Spanish-language musical — which follows a Mexican drug lord (Gascón) embracing her true identity as a woman, will premiere in select theaters in other countries in November, as well as hit Netflix in the U.S., Canada and the U.K. on Nov. 13.
In other Gomez news, the star recently became a billionaire. According to a report from Bloomberg published Friday (Sept. 6), Gomez now has an estimated net worth of $1.3 billion, attributing the “vast bulk” of her wealth to the success of her popular Rare Beauty cosmetics business.
