In a clip captured by E! News at the Sunday awards show, Gomez and Short sit next to each other at a table as the latter holds the former’s left hand and gently spins her glittering marquise diamond on her finger. At one point, the comedian’s jaw drops with admiration while the “Love On” singer points out something about the band.
Gomez and Blanco got engaged in December after about a year and a half of dating, with the “Eastside” hitmaker popping the question over a Taco Bell picnic. Sharing photos on Instagram, the Rare Beauty founder wrote at the time, “forever begins now..”
Shortly after the couple announced their engagement, Short and fellow Only Murders star Steve Martin congratulated the Wizards of Waverly Place alum on Instagram. “Congratulations to Benny and Selena, from her two weird uncles,” they wrote in a post on Martin’s account Dec. 12.
Blanco was at his fiancée’s side at the 2025 Globes — a full year after the couple first attended the awards show together in 2024. Gomez was nominated in two categories this year: best actress in a TV series, musical or comedy for her performance in Only Murders, as well as best supporting actress for her role in Emilia Pérez. The first award ended up going to Hacks‘ Jean Smart, while the second went to Gomez’s Emilia costar Zoe Saldaña.
Short and Martin were both nominated for the Hulu crime-comedy series too, earning nods in the best actor in a TV series, musical or comedy category. Both lost to The Bear‘s Jeremy Allen White.
And though Blanco was the only person in their party of four not to be nominated for any Globes, the producer ended the night a winner. “Got to take home the best award of the night,” he wrote on Instagram Stories after the ceremony, sharing a video of Gomez looking stunning in her gown.
