Jennifer Lopez unveiled the first look at her next big-screen role in Kiss of the Spider Woman on Thursday (June 5).
In the teaser trailer, J.Lo stars as Ingrid Luna, an Old Hollywood actress whose litany of dazzling, song-and-dance roles are dreamt up by a pair of prisoners (played by Diego Luna and Tonatiuh) stuck in a prison cell during the closing days of Argentina’s Dirty War.

“Come and find me, hear my song,” the superstar sings as a montage of clips from the movie musical flash across the screen. In one, she emerges from her bathtub in an ornate, pink-walled bathroom, her back to the camera as a maid helps her into a lacy bathrobe. In another, she elegantly spins across a dance floor wearing a shimmering gold dress.
Meanwhile, Luna and Tonatiuh’s unlucky cellmates attempt to bond amidst their dire circumstances by reminiscing about the culture that’s thriving outside the prison walls. “I couldn’t live without movies,” Tonatiuh’s Luis declares as he stares dreamily at a poster featuring Lopez in character. “One of them I’ll never forget: Kiss of the Spider Woman.”
The trailer offers glimpses of multiple other musical numbers in the film, including Lopez smiling ear to ear beneath a spotlight as she kicks off “Where You Are” and later belting out the title number as she inhabits Ingrid’s famous role as the Spider Woman.
Directed by Bill Condon, Kiss of the Spider Woman is a film adaptation of the 1993 Broadway musical by Terrence McNalley, John Kander and Fred Ebb, which in turn was inspired by Argentinian writer Manuel Puig’s 1976 novel of the same name.
Kiss of the Spider Woman is set to hit theaters nationwide on Oct. 10. Watch Lopez sing and dance her way through the teaser trailer below.
