Takeoff’s parents are fighting in court over how to split wrongful death settlement money, with his mom claiming she raised him alone and his dad demanding an equal share.
Takeoff and his parents’ money situation just got worse than anyone expected, with his mom and dad now battling over how to split settlement cash from the wrongful death lawsuit.
The dispute centers on who deserves what from the settlement money that came through after his tragic death in 2022, and the two sides couldn’t be further apart on the answer.
Titania Davenport, Takeoff’s mother, raised him as a single parent and claims she was the primary financial support throughout his entire life.
She’s arguing in court documents that she cared for him from birth, handled nearly all his expenses growing up, and continued supporting him even after he became successful with Migos.
When his music career took off, she says he returned the favor by providing her with substantial financial help, including buying her a home, vehicles, and covering all her living costs.
According to her legal filings, she’s the one who deserves the bulk of the settlement money because of the sacrifices she made and the ongoing support they provided each other.
Kenneth Ball, Takeoff’s father, is taking a completely different stance on the matter.
He’s claiming he’s entitled to half the settlement money regardless of his limited presence in his son’s life.
Ball admits he wasn’t really around during Takeoff’s childhood and provided minimal financial or emotional support, but he’s still pushing for an equal split of the funds.
The two parents are also fighting over which state should handle the case, with Titania wanting Georgia to oversee the probate proceedings while Kenneth is pushing for Texas to remain the venue.
The settlement money stems from a wrongful death lawsuit that Titania filed in Texas following her son’s death.
Takeoff was shot and killed on November 1, 2022, outside a Houston bowling alley when he was just 28 years old.
He was there with his uncle Quavo, his Migos partner, when the shooting occurred.
The incident left two other people wounded as well, though they survived their injuries.
Patrick Xavier Clark has been charged with Takeoff’s murder and has claimed self-defense in the case.
Jury selection for his trial is scheduled to begin on November 5, 2026, with the trial itself expected to start shortly after.
