Drake Curse Looms Over McGregor As Rapper Bets Big

Drake’s $1 million bet on Conor McGregor has the MMA world nervous about whether the Drake Curse strikes again at UFC 329.

Drake is about to find out if the curse is real or if this time he’s doing it with a million-dollar bet on Conor McGregor at UFC 329.

The Toronto rapper threw down a massive wager on the Notorious One to defeat Max Holloway on Saturday night at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, and the internet’s already bracing for impact.

If McGregor pulls off the upset, Drake walks away with $1.85 million in pure profit, but history suggests that’s not how this story ends.

“THE MAC IS BACK?!?!?? The proper twelve drinking, tailored suit wearing, Lambo Yacht riding man with the Dubai tan that once had both belts in both hands. Say less @stake ,” Drake posted on Friday, hyping up his pick with the kind of confidence that’s made him famous in betting circles.

McGregor’s sitting at +185 odds as the underdog, while Holloway’s the favorite at -225, which means Drake’s banking on a serious upset.

The Irish fighter hasn’t competed in five years, and while he did beat Holloway thirteen years ago, that was a lifetime in combat sports.

Drake’s got a documented track record of losing massive bets on everything from the NBA Finals to the Super Bowl to World Cup matches.

The “Drake Curse” has become a legitimate meme in sports betting culture, where athletes and teams he publicly backs tend to collapse under pressure.

But just last month, Drake actually won big. He bet $770,000 on Canada to beat South Africa in the 2026 FIFA World Cup and walked away with over $1 million in winnings, proving the curse isn’t unbreakable.

What’s wild is that Drake’s actually up massively on UFC betting overall.

He’s won more than $30 million in fighting events over his career, including $1.2 million just last weekend against Alex Pereira.

So while the curse narrative makes for great content, his actual record shows he knows how to read the octagon.

Still, McGregor’s return after such a long layoff against a hungry Holloway is exactly the kind of fight where things go sideways fast.

Either way, Drake’s $1 million is on the line, and the entire MMA community is watching to see whether this is finally the moment the curse is reversed or Holloway’s about to become the latest victim of the Champagne Papi effect.
