Travis Scott & James Blake Reunite for ‘The Odyssey’ Soundtrack Closer ‘When I’m Home’: Listen

Travis Scott makes his Hollywood debut starring in the Christopher Nolan-directed The Odyssey, and he’s also featured on the mythological film’s soundtrack.
La Flame teamed up with frequent collaborator James Blake and Ludwig Göransson, who scored the film, for the haunting “When I’m Home,” which also plays during the movie’s ending credits.
The Odyssey‘s soundtrack arrived on Friday (July 17) alongside Nolan’s blockbuster epic based on Homer’s ancient Greek poem. The dreamy production and Scott’s intoxicating flow on “When I’m Home” mirror Odysseus’ turbulent journey home to Ithaca.
The Houston rager uses concise punch-in bars and ad-libs with themes surrounding The Odyssey, as he references the fleet, sirens and Battle of Troy.
Scott makes his feature film debut and plays the role of a bard, and finds him reciting epics and stories from ancient Greece. His is actually the first character’s voice heard in the movie. Scott is part of a loaded cast that also includes Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal and Lupita Nyong’o.

The rapper and Nolan have developed quite the rapport since the 2020s began. Nolan previously recruited Scott to make “The Plan” as part of Tenet‘s soundtrack in 2020.
“I cast him because I wanted to nod towards the idea that this story has been handed down as oral poetry, which is analogous to rap,” Nolan told Time in May about having Scott in The Odyssey.
The 35-year-old opened up to Deadline about hearing from Nolan about joining the cast, and the rest is history. “I just got a call from Nolan,” he said. “We had this crazy idea and I was like, ‘I’m down to rock. However you want to do it.’”
