Noah Kahan Clears Up Commonly Misheard Lyrics That Aren’t Nearly as NSFW as Fans Think

A few of Noah Kahan‘s fans are about to find out that some of his lyrics are way less NSFW than they thought.

In a hilarious public service announcement on X on Wednesday (July 22), the singer-songwriter took a moment to share “some lyric clarifications” with listeners who apparently haven’t been singing his songs correctly at shows. The first one he called out was breakout single “Stick Season,” which reached No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2024, marking his first top 10 hit.

“Saw your mom,” he wrote. “Not Suck Your Mom.”

“‘Beat your a– into morning,’” he continued, referencing a commonly misheard line in his The Great Divide song “23.” “Not Eat Your A– In The Morning.”

Finally, Kahan said that his track “Haircut” does not include a lyric that goes “Glad You Got Your A– cleaned,” but it does feature the line, “Glad you got your act cleaned.”

The Vermont native is currently on tour in support of The Great Divide, his three-week Billboard 200-topper that arrived in April. It would seem that his time on the road is what brought the lyrical misconceptions to his attention, although he did also give fans permission to “sing from whatever place your mind takes you” in his post.

That said, any misheard lyrics about having an unclean rear end should not be taken seriously to the point of defecating on the floors of the stadiums Kahan is playing in, which has also been in an issue at his shows in recent history. After concertgoers found feces smeared on the ground at the artist’s Philadelphia performance in June, he issued a different kind of PSA on X.

“If you have to poop at a show please dear god just go to the bathroom lmao,” he wrote at the time. “I’ve pooped my pants as much as the next 29 year old but you guys gotta understand there’s a venue worker out there with a 1000 yard stare after dealing with that”
