Nicki Minaj Claps Back at Trump With Chucky After Being Made His Punchline at WHCA Dinner

Nicki Minaj responded to Trump’s twerking joke with a pink-haired Chucky doll post, and no one can agree on whether it was shade.

Nicki Minaj sent a pink-haired Chucky doll to Donald Trump’s timeline Friday night, and the internet had plenty of thoughts about what it meant.

Hours after Trump cracked a twerking joke at her expense during his hour-long speech at the rescheduled White House Correspondents’ Dinner, Minaj fired back on X with a photo of the horror franchise’s iconic doll, this one wearing a suit and sporting hot pink hair. The caption read: “How I’ll be looking @ the President next time I see him.”

No further explanation, no paragraphs, just Chucky staring into the camera looking like he had some business to handle.

Nicki Minaj has used the Chucky image as a signature move on social media before, including a memorable post aimed at JD Vance back in 2024.

Whether it was genuine shade or a playful jab between allies depends on who you ask. What isn’t up for debate is that Trump put her name in his mouth first, working her into a joke about the April 25 assassination attempt that shut down the original dinner.

“After hearing the gunshots, many people yelled, ‘Get down! Get down!’ which caused Nicki Minaj to start twerking,” Donald Trump told the crowd at the Waldorf Astoria, according to CNN. “She’s the only one that really understood what that meant.”

Nicki Minaj wasn’t even at the original dinner or the rescheduled one, which makes the joke land a little differently depending on your perspective.

She’d been on her way to the April event as a Fox News guest when the shooting broke out, and she watched it unfold from a car. Trump doesn’t seem to see any of that as a reason to let her off the hook.

For a man who spent an hour taking shots at Rosie O’Donnell, Bruce Springsteen, Don Lemon, Adam Schiff, Bette Midler, Jane Fonda, Chris Christie, and three late-night hosts in one sitting, joking that Springsteen “looks like hell” and renaming his tour “Bored in the USA,” Nicki Minaj got off easy by comparison.

Still, there’s something worth noting in the dynamic here.

Trump spent months calling Nicki “so respected and so hot and so great” at public events, and she spent months calling herself his “No. 1 fan” and showing up to White House luncheons and summits.

The cost of that alignment has been real: she was shut out of the 2026 Met Gala after her MAGA pivot became undeniable, ending an eight-year run at one of fashion’s biggest stages.

Now the president is using her as a twerking punchline at a formal dinner with 680 journalists in the room.

The Chucky post got a mixed reaction. Some Barbz read it as their girl putting Trump on notice.

Others said she was clearly in on the joke and just running with the bit. Some on social media tried to frame Trump’s comment as a real jab, but others pointed to the friendship between the two as evidence it was all in good fun.

What Nicki herself actually meant, she’s keeping behind a horror doll with pink hair and a knowing smile.
