Did Fenix Flexin Accidentally Make Things Worse?
Published
3 weeks agoon
Fenix Flexin tried to shut down claims that “Rubberz” was AI generated, but deleting his own evidence only poured more fuel on an already blazing controversy.
Fenix Flexin may have a summer smash on his hands, but now the biggest conversation around “Rubberz” is really if the song was made using AI. Was the song actually made by humans, or was artificial intelligence doing most of the heavy lifting? Here is the song:
Producer and artist Medasin went in on Fenix. He posted a detailed breakdown claiming “Rubberz” was fully AI generated, however Fenix fired back. He decided it was time to present proof the record was built inside Pro Tools. The Shoreline Mafia rapper uploaded a carousel of videos showing what appeared to be project sessions, stems and recordings for both “Rubberz” and unreleased songs. The clips were clearly meant to silence critics who have questioned the song since it exploded earlier this summer.
It did not work.

Medasin, a relative unknown, has made this his mission. He almost immediately dismissed the videos, arguing they actually supported his theory rather than disproved it. According to him, the files showed a stem separation process instead of an authentic production session. He claimed Fenix layered new vocals over AI generated outputs to make the project appear legitimate.
“He is using a stem separator. Any producer currently knows how these work,” Medasin wrote on Instagram. “He’s taken the Treblo output, used the stem separator that breaks it into four stems, vocals, instruments, bass, drums, underneath that he has layers of his actual vocals where he has layered himself on top of the Treblo song to try to legitimize it and make it look real.”
Then came another twist.
Not long afterward, Fenix reportedly deleted the post containing his alleged receipts, giving critics even more ammunition. And Medasin took notice almost immediately. This dude is the virus, not medicine for Fenix. LOL.
“Fenix deleted his post showing the ‘project files’ lol,” he wrote. “Which is great news cause I’m over editing videos on this.”
The producer insists his original investigation remains intact. His biggest piece of evidence centers on software formerly known as Sonauto AI, now rebranded as Treblo. According to Medasin, Fenix accidentally exposed himself before “Rubberz” was released by posting a file whose name allegedly contained “Sonauto.” Even more curious, Sonauto reportedly changed its name to Treblo just two days before “Rubberz” officially arrived. Interesting.
Whether that timing is coincidence or something more remains unproven.
Nobody involved in all of this denies AI belongs somewhere in modern music. Purp On The Beat, another white man that produced Fenix, has previously compared AI to Auto Tune. Even will.i.am praised the record and said the AI elements sounded obvious to him. Why the big deal?
Medasin argues transparency is the real issue.
“If you remove the human journey of exploring creativity and honing in your craft… and replace that life long meaningful journey with a 30 second prompt, that is no longer ‘art’ by definition,” he wrote.
There is still no definitive proof that “Rubberz” was fully AI generated or fully human made. Neither. And yet…we have a strong opinion. One thing is certain, it is time to move on.
