Convicted at retrial, OMB Bloodbath now faces the possibility of life in prison over a 2017 Houston gang shooting.
OMB Bloodbath lost her shot at freedom after a guilty verdict inside a Houston federal courtroom. A federal jury convicted the rapper and her codefendant on murder and firearm charges tied to a 2017 Houston shooting.
OMB Bloodbath and codefendant Shaquille Richards were found guilty of murder in aid of racketeering. Jurors also convicted both defendants of using a firearm during that same racketeering murder. Prosecutors say Nicks and Richards led Houston’s 100% Third Ward gang, widely known as the 103 Gang.
Investigators say the gang ordered a retaliatory drive-by against rival gang Young Scott Block back in October 2017. The shooters missed their intended target and instead killed 53-year-old bystander Sam Johnson.
Four gunmen tied to the shooting already pleaded guilty in the case.

Jail phone calls and text messages between Nicks and Richards formed the core of the case. Prosecutors also played one of Nicks’ own music videos, arguing it tied her directly to gang activity.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Kelly Zenon-Matos told jurors the case was about power and not the shooters themselves, according to Click2Houston’s report on the trial.
Prosecutors gained access to Nicks’ previously locked phone before the second trial began. A four-year effort finally cracked the device, revealing new evidence for prosecutors to use. That fresh evidence reportedly helped sway jurors toward a conviction this time around.
Assistant Attorney General A. Tysen Duva addressed the case directly, tying it to years of neighborhood violence.
“The gang war that these defendants engaged in plagued Houston’s Third Ward community for years,” Duva said. U.S. Attorney Aaron Reitz added that the convictions reflect a broader commitment to prosecuting violent gang activity in Houston.
This marked the second attempt to convict Nicks and Richards on these charges. AllHipHop previously reported that their first trial ended in a mistrial after a jury deadlocked. Federal prosecutors chose to retry the case rather than accept the hung jury’s verdict.
The four gunmen who carried out the shooting face sentencing on September 2. Each of them could receive a life sentence for their role in Johnson’s death.
Nicks and Richards are scheduled for sentencing on November 4, according to a Houston Chronicle report.
