Dame Dash Trustee Questions Whether He Is Truly Broke

Dame Dash’s trustee seeks permission to sell his likeness, career archive and unfinished Roc-A-Fella film to repay creditors.

Dame Dash could lose the rights to his own life story as his Chapter 7 bankruptcy grows more invasive.

Loren LoRosa of The Breakfast Club first reported that the bankruptcy trustee requested court approval to sell Dash’s “life rights.”

The filing defines those rights as Dash’s “life story together with Dash’s voice, image, likeness, biography, and identifying characteristics, and the right to portray all the incidents, events, and situations of Seller’s life story from childhood through petition date.”

The trustee also believes Dash possesses “substantial archival material relating to his life and career, including over 100 hours of video content, photographs, and memorabilia spanning approximately 1990 through 2025.”

That collection allegedly includes an unreleased documentary or film project called The Roc-A-Fella Movie, which remains under development that Dash has been shopping around.

The request follows another filing where the trustee said she was “not convinced that Dame Dash is actually bankrupt” after investigating his disclosures.

Creditors raised similar concerns after Dash sought protection, arguing his public business claims conflicted with the limited assets listed in court.

AllHipHop previously reported Dash claimed $25.3 million in liabilities, no monthly income and only $4,350 in personal property.

His petition identified roughly $19 million in government debt and nearly $648,000 in support obligations involving Rachel Roy and Cindy Morales.

It also listed more than $5.5 million in unsecured claims from lawsuits, unpaid wages and legal bills accumulated over several years.

Filmmaker Josh Webber and Muddy Water Pictures hold major claims after winning an $805,000 verdict and a separate $4 million default judgment.

Their cases grew out of the disputed movie Dear Frank, Dash’s later ownership claims, and his public accusations against Webber.

The financial pressure had already stripped away Dash’s signature holding before bankruptcy paused many remaining collection efforts.

New York bought his one-third Roc-A-Fella Records stake for $1 million, then applied proceeds toward taxes and $145,096 in child support.

Dash’s attorney Brian Zinn previously told the Los Angeles Times, “Mr. Dash’s bankruptcy filing will stop most lawsuits and other collection activities. It will give him breathing room to organize his finances and rebuild his credit. He may also be able to eliminate some or most of his debts.”

The bankruptcy judge has not ruled on the trustee’s motion, leaving Dash’s likeness, personal archive and unfinished movie vulnerable to sale.
