KPop Demon Hunters is finally getting a physical release — and it’s from the Criterion Collection.
More than a year after it debuted on Netflix, the hit animated musical is getting the Criterion Collection treatment with loads of bonus features, special artwork and other goodies. It’s set for release on Tuesday (Nov. 3), while it’s available on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD. This marks the first time the film has been available for viewing outside of streaming, save for a brief theatrical run last summer and a second run of a “sing-along” version last fall.

Release date: Tuesday, Nov. 3
The upcoming 4K Ultra HD release, which is available of preorder, comes in a three-disc set with artwork from Ami Thompson. The first disc feature a new directors-approved 4K digital master of KPop Demon Hunters presented in Dolby Vision HDR with a Dolby Atmos soundtrack, while the new two discs are Blu-rays packed with loads of bonus features, including new introduction by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans (the directors), making-of documentary, video essays, lyric videos, art book and more. There’s even an essay included by culture writer and critic Karen Han.

Criterion Collection
Please note: The DVD and Blu-ray editions of KPop Demon Hunters also come with bonus features.
As the distribution company states on its website, Criterion is dedicated to promoting a film “as its maker would want it seen, in state-of-the-art restorations” and with “special features designed to encourage repeated watching and deepen the viewer’s appreciation of the art of film.”
Worth noting: Netflix films almost never get a physical release, let alone a Criterion Collection edition, so this is a big deal for fans and collectors alike. Already the most-viewed original title in Netflix history, KPop Demon Hunters, also took home two Oscars, for Best Animated Feature, and Best Original Song for the hit single, “Golden.”
With prices starting at $23.96, KPop Demon Hunters is available from the Criterion Collection on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD. It drops on Nov. 3. Learn more about the special edition release here.
