Exclusive Interview with Robert Flournoy

Today, we had the chance to link up with Robert Flournoy for an exclusive interview.
1. What is your legal name and age?
My name is Robert Flournoy—Flournoy is French—and I’m 60 years young, focused on my music and on my mother’s ministry, Dolores Owens Community Impact.
2. What is your stage name and how did you come up with it?
My stage name is Now Is The Time. I chose it because I felt in my spirit that there is no time to waste—now is the time to spread the Gospel. The name reflects my calling and my mission.
3. Where are you from?
I’m from Santa Ana in Orange County. My parents, Dewey and Dolores Flournoy, brought me here when I was one year old, and I’ve been tied to the city ever since. It’s my home and the heart of much of my ministry.
4. Who inspired you the most as an artist?
My inspiration comes from conviction. The Lord impressed upon me to use my gifts to glorify his name and reach as many people as I can. That call is what made me an artist.
5. The song “My Mama’s Home” seems personal. Why did you make that song?
My mother passed away in April 2025. Most songs about mothers are sad and bring tears, but I wanted to do something different—something that would tell her story and Lift You Up and Lift You Out. It’s a celebration of her life.
6. How would you describe the music you create?
My music is uplifting, joyful, and helps people forget their problems for a moment. My Gospel music draws people closer to the living God—that’s my calling and my service.
7. What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received about your music?
People tell me my music is different, but it touches them. Even though not all positive songs are labeled as Christian, they can still reach people—and I’m good with that.
8. What’s your latest release?
My latest release is “My Mama’s Home.” I created it to remind listeners that everyone who believes in Jesus has the opportunity to see their loved ones again. That’s His promise and part of His plan.
9. What are you focusing on now?
Right now, my focus is promoting my mother’s song, “My Mama’s Home.” I must decrease so she can increase—this season is no longer about me, but about lifting her legacy and, of course, giving glory to Jesus.
10. What do you want your legacy to be? How do you want to be remembered?
I want to be remembered as a Christian singer who did his best to reach people for Jesus, and whose music touched lives. If someone’s life was changed and my music played even a small part, then I’ve done what I was called to do.
