Bad Bunny’s Halftime Show at the 2026 Super Bowl Receives 9 Emmy Nods — That’s a Record

The Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show Starring Bad Bunny received nine Primetime Emmy nominations on Wednesday (July 8), more than any previous halftime show. The previous record holder was Super Bowl LI Halftime Show Starring Lady Gaga, which received six nods in 2017. Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin were Bunny’s guests on his halftime show this year.

The nominations for this year’s halftime show, which aired on NBC, include outstanding variety special (live), where Bad Bunny as the lead performer is a nominee. Only one halftime show to date has won in this category: The Pepsi Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show Starring Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, 50 Cent won four years ago, which made Emmy winners out of all of those billed artists.

The Bunny-starring halftime show is the seventh consecutive halftime show to at least be nominated in this category, following shows headlined by Jennifer Lopez and Shakira (2020); The Weeknd (2021); the all-star hip-hop show that won (2022); Rihanna (2023); Usher (2024) and Lamar (2025).

The Super Bowl halftime show is competing with four awards shows for outstanding variety special (live). The other nominees are the 83rd Annual Golden Globes, the 68th Annual Grammy Awards (CBS), The Oscars (ABC) and the 78th Annual Tony Awards (CBS). The Grammys have never won a top program Emmy, though the show has won many Emmys in other categories.

Bunny won three Grammys earlier this year — album of the year and best música urbana album, both for Debí Tirar Más Fotos, and best global music performance for “EOO,” a track from the album. He was present at the ceremony to accept his awards, including his historic win for album of the year, the first non-English album to win in that category.
