Donald Trump Loses Kennedy Center Fight, Ordered To Pay Millions As Flops Continue With No End In Sight

Trump loses the Kennedy Center fight and owes E. Jean Carroll millions as Iran, FIFA and Freedom 250 pile on the losses.
Donald Trump hit another legal wall Wednesday when a federal appeals court refused to let him keep his name on the Kennedy Center.
The D.C. Circuit said his team never proved the building would suffer without his branding, according to CNN. The center had argued Trump’s name was worth a fortune to future fundraising, and the judges weren’t buying it.
Judge Christopher Cooper ordered the name stripped back in May and made clear that the 1964 law vests naming rights in Congress alone. Donald Trump took over the Kennedy Center board early in his second term and pushed through the December vote, adding his name to the building. That takeover already drove several artists to cancel scheduled shows before this latest court defeat even landed.
Workers pulled Trump’s letters off the facade last month, but a tarp still hangs over the empty spot while Rep. Joyce Beatty pushed the center to finish the job for good.
On Wednesday, a federal judge also ordered Trump to hand over more than $5 million to E. Jean Carroll.
Judge Lewis Kaplan rejected Trump’s bid to delay the payout while he seeks a Supreme Court do-over. Kaplan brushed aside claims that releasing the funds would cause Donald Trump irreparable harm, especially after he blabbed about making billions since he took office.
Donald Trump still owes Carroll an additional $83 million from a separate defamation verdict. He’s expected to ask the Supreme Court to review that judgment before the month is out.
The Kennedy Center and Carroll defeats land right in the middle of a rough stretch that’s testing Trump’s usual bravado.
His Freedom 250 birthday bash got rained out on the National Mall last weekend, forcing an evacuation just before his speech. Reporters still doubt his claim that 45,000 people showed up for it.
Several country and pop artists bailed on the lineup entirely over the event’s political tone, and Trump ended up bragging that he’s a bigger draw than Elvis, a claim that proved false given the low turnout to that event and his July 4th celebration in Washington D.C., thanks to Mother Nature.
Then came the World Cup embarrassment, where Trump called FIFA to overturn a red card on striker Folarin Balogun so he could face Belgium. UEFA said the reversal “crossed a red line,” and Belgium answered by mocking Trump with his own dance after routing the U.S. 4-1, eliminating the co-host team from the tournament.
His Iran ceasefire deal cratered this week too, as talks broke down and strikes resumed near the Strait of Hormuz. Trump has since called the negotiations a waste of time while vowing to hit Iran hard again.
