YG Explains Why He Will Never Make “FDT Part 2”

YG says there will never be an “FDT Part 2,” revealing he does not want the smoke.
YG does not want a political headache. I feel him on this, because “FDT” was one of those songs that people turn into an anthem.
It has been nearly a decade since Nipsey Hussle and YG put “FDT” in the wold. It instantly became one of the most profound protest records of the 2016. Now, the Compton rapper says hoping for a sequel to the Donald Trump diss will end in disappointment.
He says the requests have been nonstop. I BET!
Ever since Trump secured another term, the streets and internet have been asking whether YG would dust off the formula that made “FDT” such hood hit. According to YG, that chapter is closed. Done.
On Big Boy’s Neighborhood, YG explained that creating another anti-Trump anthem simply is not worth the complications. Excederine Migraine cannot get ride of that headache.
“A lot of people be asking me that like, ‘Bro, are you going to do part two?’” YG said. “I’m like, ‘Listen, man.’ I got a lot of street s##t going on. I got a lot of other s##t going on. I don’t want no smoke with them, people.”
That last line speaks loudly. While many fans viewed “FDT” as a bold political statement, YG says the fallout never stopped. Nearly 10 years later, the song still affects his business opportunities. I believe him.
“I’m still going through that. When I’m doing certain shows, they be like, ‘We want him, but he can’t do ‘FDT.””
That song dropped in 2016. It became a cultural lightening rod and also an anthem for countless protests and political demonstrations. It still is, to be honest. YG says promoters continue restrict him from performing it.
He also revealed the White House (or the Feds) actually contacted him over the record. YG told Big Boy that he received a letter from the White House after “FDT” was released! Yep. This reminds me of another period in time, where Ice Cube and NWA got a letter from the FBI. But they performed “F##k The Police” anyway. I’m not mad at YG and he proved he’s from Compton too.
You thought you had true freedom of speech, eh? Watch what you say! YG had a college show and they even stopped him from doing that song on a campus. He said it was even in the contract that they did not have to pay him. He say he did the song anyway! “That MF went off!” he said! “That song was a part of my show.” He did the Ice Cube move!
Commercially, “FDT” was mostly a hood hit. People loved the song, but there was no way they were going to let that turn into a blockbuster on the charts. It never cracked the Billboard Hot 100, but it is still regarded as a seminal hit. He explains that he’s still up on things and keeps up with the way things on.
It is still a political rallying cry that continues to follow YG years later. While some fans may be disappointed there will not be an “FDT Part 2,” YG seems more interested in protecting his peace than reigniting a beef with The Donald.
I ain’t mad. He stood on biz and this time ain’t that time.
By the way, this part of it is at the very, very end of the interview. I watched the whole thing though. Salute, Big Boy and YG.
