Drake Curse Claims Argentina as Spain Wins World Cup Final 1-0

Drake did it again, and this time Lionel Messi and Argentina are paying the price for it.

Spain claimed the 2026 FIFA World Cup title Sunday afternoon at MetLife Stadium, beating Argentina 1-0 in extra time, and social media wasted exactly zero seconds before pointing the finger at Toronto’s favorite sports gambler.

Ferran Torres settled it in the 106th minute after 90-plus minutes of Argentina barely threatening the Spanish goal, and the internet immediately connected the dots back to Drake’s $1.5 million Stake bet on Argentina to win.

Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez put up a record 10 saves trying to keep it alive, but Spain’s defense posted its seventh clean sheet of the tournament and walked away with the trophy.

Drake posted the bet Friday on Instagram with the caption “What’s that saying??? Better luck…” and X turned into a disaster warning the second the slip went viral.

It’s the same trap Drake walked into in 2022.

He put money on Argentina to beat France in regulation that year too, Argentina ended up winning on penalties, and Drake still lost the bet because the 90-minute market settled before extra time kicked in.

He went back to the same market Sunday, Argentina couldn’t hold up their end of the deal, and now he’s lost on both World Cup finals where he backed Messi’s squad.

The Drake Curse struck McGregor at UFC 329 just last week too, when Drake’s $1 million bet on the Irishman evaporated in 69 seconds after McGregor’s knee buckled.

Drake’s all-time publicly tracked record now sits at 32 wins and 55 losses across 87 wagers.
