Kid Cudi just confirmed what longtime fans have been hoping for: he and Kanye West are actively rebuilding their friendship after years of tension and public fallouts.
The Cleveland rapper revealed on Twitter that they’ve been checking in on each other regularly, with no work collaboration on the table yet, just genuine reconnection between two artists who shaped each other’s careers in ways few collaborations ever could.
“Right now we’re rebuilding our friendship,” Cudi wrote in response to fan questions about a potential reunion. “I hit him a week ago to check in on him, today he hit me to check on me. No work talk. Just seeing how I was doing. It was nice.”
Im sure we will yea. Right now were rebuilding our friendship. I hit him a week ago to check in on him, today he hit me to check on me. No work talk. Just seeing how I was doing. It was nice.

When asked directly if they’d work together again, he responded with confidence: “I’m sure we will yea.”
The tone was casual but meaningful, suggesting both artists have moved past the bitterness that defined their relationship for the last few years.
Their history runs deep and complicated. Kanye brought Cudi into G.O.O.D. In the late 2000s, Cudi became essential to the sound of 808s & Heartbreak, one of Kanye’s most influential projects.
They collaborated frequently across multiple albums before their professional relationship fractured in 2013, with both artists taking public shots at each other.
The two eventually reconciled and delivered KIDS SEE GHOSTS in 2018, a self-titled album that became a critical and commercial success.
But 2022 brought another rupture when Kanye cut Cudi off over his friendship with Pete Davidson, who was dating Kim Kardashian, creating another public rift that seemed permanent.
In 2024, Kanye offered what Cudi described as a sincere apology, and now in 2026, they’re actively reconnecting on a personal level.
