Woman returns to her Michigan hotel room after work trip. Then she sees what the cleaning crew did: ‘What were they thinking? That is SO WEIRD’

After a long, exhausting work conference, most people want to cozy up in their hotel room, but one woman wasn’t able to. The reason why? The cleaning personnel at her Michigan hotel moved all of her belongings around and allegedly messed with her personal property.
Bc Meier (@bc_meier), a TikTok content creator, posted a video that received more than 2,400 views. In it, she explained that she and her work colleagues “moved hotels entirely” after realizing that hotel staff members allegedly took items in the room.
What Happened to Meier’s Hotel Room?
Meier said that she was “bodied” while working an event in Michigan. After keeping up with a demanding schedule, she returned to her hotel room, where she was staying for the week. That’s when she noticed that some of her possessions had been moved around.
“I’m assuming the cleaning people came in, but they had to not be in their right mind because they took a bunch of things … either for themselves or in the trash, I don’t know,” Meier said.

Meier said that the cleaning personnel deliberately threw away her possessions.
“There’s maple syrup all over a Comet that we bought because we cleaned the room ourself once we got in here,” she said. “Then they threw out like a scrubbing thing that we had also had, but they didn’t take any of the dirty towels on the floor—just, like, really bizarre things. One of my supplement bags is missing entirely.”
She said she noticed a dirty Q-tip on the countertop as well as multiple things she brought into the hotel room that were out of place.
So, she called the front desk. She says they told her someone requested access to her shared room.
“They were like, ‘Oh no, someone requested access through your app at three-something.’ And we were like, ‘No. Impossible, because I wasn’t even able to look at my phone until 5:00 p.m.,’ and I don’t have the app to whatever hotel I’m actually staying at,” Meier said.
Did Meier Lodge a Complaint?
In the comments section, Meier revealed what she says happened next.
She told her audience that she filed a report on-site, which she said was a Home2 Suites in Grand Rapids. The content creator added that she asked for footage of whoever went inside her room. Commenters guessed that it may not have been a member of the Home2 Suites staff who went inside the suite.
She also moved hotels. The content creator expressed a desire to call Hilton, the parent company of Home2 Suites, because of her experience. It’s unclear whether she has.
Are Hotel Room Break-Ins Common?
Some commenters suggested that the cleaning staff did not access Meier’s room. Rather, they posited it may have been a thief.
“That was not cleaning people…as someone who has worked hospitality I would definitely be watching the cameras,” one viewer said.
While room break-ins at hotels are not necessarily “common,” they do happen. Often, individuals will pretend to be hotel guests to get access to hallways and other critical areas. They might try to gain access to keycards, which allows them to access guests’ hotel rooms when they’re not there.
In 2024, a man talked his way past “the front desks of posh Beverly Hills hotels” to steal from a couple. He stole goods valued at $1.5 million from the guests, according to the Los Angeles Times. He was given a key to the victim’s room by hotel staff after answering a few “security questions.”
In another circumstance, a Cleveland man was sentenced to two years in prison after tricking staff at the Courtyard by Marriott Independence, Cleveland, into giving him a key to his coworker’s suite.
