Security Guard Swears YG Had Weapon When Drakeo Got Stabbed At Festival

Drakeo the Ruler’s security guard’s testimony about witnessing YG with a knife during Drakeo’s fatal stabbing could spell serious trouble for the rapper.

YG had a blade in his hand and was slashing it through the air backstage at the Once Upon a Time in L.A. festival, according to testimony that just surfaced from Drakeo the Ruler’s security detail.

Alrick Cooper III, who was protecting Drakeo during the December 2021 incident, gave a deposition in March 2025 where he described seeing the rapper produce what looked like a prison shank and use it aggressively during the chaotic brawl that ended with Drakeo dead from stab wounds.

According to the LA Times, Cooper testified that he recognized YG by his eyes and body type, even though the rapper was wearing a ski mask.

He said YG was positioned front and center in the attack, flanked by two other men who were also carrying similar short blades.

When Cooper saw the weapons, he backed away, but the attackers kept moving toward Drakeo, who was standing just a couple of feet behind him.

Police showed up almost immediately and broke up the fight, but by then the damage was done.

The deposition details matter now more than ever because law enforcement just executed a search warrant at a Burbank property connected to YG on July 23, 2026.

The California Highway Patrol and Burbank Police SWAT team showed up early in the morning, and YG was detained while officers searched the location.

He was released without arrest, but the fact that cops are still actively investigating nearly five years later tells you everything about where this case stands.

Here’s what makes Cooper’s testimony potentially devastating for YG: he’s not some random witness making vague claims.

He was there in an official capacity, protecting Drakeo, and he’s willing to go on record under oath about what he saw.

He described the weapon as a silver blade about three to four inches long that appeared to come from YG’s sleeve.

YG has consistently denied any involvement in Drakeo’s death.

On his June 2026 track “We Know the Truth,” he rejected all allegations and claimed he only learned about the stabbing after arriving at the festival to perform.

But no one has been charged in this case, and the investigation remains open.
