Meek Mill revisits one of the most defining moments of his career with “Nightmares To Dreams,” rapping on how far he’s come.
Meek Mill is looking back while pushing forward on his latest release, “Nightmares To Dreams.”
The Philadelphia rapper deliberately flips the title of his 2012 anthem “Dreams and Nightmares,” creating an immediate connection to one of the most celebrated records of his career.
The original track became far more than an album intro. It evolved into a cultural touchstone, inspiring athletes, fans and countless moments that cemented its place in history.
By reversing the title, Meek signals a new chapter that reflects how far he has come since those early days.

On “Nightmares To Dreams,” Meek channels the same intensity and relentless delivery that made the original so memorable. His trademark gritty flow remains intact, but the perspective has shifted. Rather than chronicling the struggle that fueled his rise, the record feels like a reflection on the success and milestones that once seemed out of reach.
The title itself suggests a full circle moment. Where “Dreams and Nightmares” captured the uncertainty and highs and lows of chasing success, “Nightmares To Dreams” presents the idea of overcoming those obstacles and living the vision that once felt impossible.
He raps:
“Yeah, you n##### know me, I’m the one
I get money, they can’t hold me (They can’t)
I been bustin’ down APs back when y’all n##### was rockin’ Rollies (Yeah)
Y’all only knew about JAY-Z, ’til y’all seen me and my homies
I was tryna chase my dreams, I had like twenty bands with a .40
I had a new Glock with a Chevy
Got my weed off, I’m ready
It was a seesaw with that trap s###, but I bounced back, I’m heavy…”
Fans who grew up with the original will likely appreciate the nostalgic callback, while the updated message gives the record its own identity instead of simply recreating the past.
Meek leans into the familiar energy without sounding like he’s trying to relive a previous era. Some have objected to sampling the original, which was produced by Tone the Beat Bully in 2012.
“Nightmares To Dreams” serves as both a celebration of his evolution and a reminder of why his music has continued to resonate. It’s a sequel that embraces its legacy while offering a fresh perspective, making it an easy addition to the playlist.
