Boosie Joins Sophie Cunningham Fight Over Trans Athletes

Boosie targets Julie Tét### as Sophie Cunningham, Cheryl Reeve and others turn transgender eligibility into a WNBA battle.

Boosie Badazz has returned to his campaign against transgender women in sports, using a movie insult to target the WNBA.

Boosie framed his position in an X post that attacked transgender participation in women’s basketball:

“PLEASE KEEP THEM JUWANNA MANS OUT THE WNBA U WAS MADE A MAN TO PLAY AGAINST ONE GO TRY OUT FOR THE NBA N MATCH UP AGAINST WEMBY AT THIS POINT YALL R HATING ON WOMENS SPORTS YALL GO TO FAR N ITS SAD .THESE GIRLS BEEN PLAYING AGAINST WOMEN THEY WHOLE LIFE JUST LOOK AT THAT GIRL FROM FRANCE THATS A DAM LINEBACKER.”

Boosie’s final line appears to be aimed at Julie Tét###, a transgender French center whose interest in the WNBA drew attention.

Tét### came out as transgender in 2021, plays for Monaco’s second-tier team and said she would not reject a WNBA call, despite receiving no offer.

The New York Post reported Tét### averaged 21.2 points and 20.2 rebounds last season while collecting three domestic player honors.

Tét###’s comments did not create the WNBA controversy, especially since no team has offered her a roster spot. Instead, she became a fresh example in a debate already growing around the league.

Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham helped push that argument into public view when she opposed transgender women competing in women’s basketball.

“I think that I am here to extend love,” Cunningham told ESPN. “But I also think with that love is truth, being honest. And I want to protect young girls in a locker room, or young girls in sport who shouldn’t have to go against biological men.”

Old footage of Cunningham briefly kicking for Rock Bridge High School’s boys football team then resurfaced last week.

Critics called the crossover hypocritical, while Cunningham’s supporters argued she entered a boys division rather than asking boys to enter a girls league.

The dispute soon moved from social media to WNBA arenas, where rallies, protest signs and clothing turned games into political stages.

Minnesota Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve wore a “Trans Kids Belong” shirt before facing Indiana and rejected Cunningham’s locker-room warning.

“It is not the case that we have quote biological men in girls’ locker rooms,” Reeve said. “The way it’s being phrased, the innuendo there that somehow transgender women are predators of some kind in the locker room.”

Stefanie Dolson wore a pro-trans shirt, Caitlin Clark deferred to league officials, and White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt backed Cunningham.

Seattle Storm co-owner Celeste Keaton received a fine and a five-game ban after confronting teenage Cunningham supporters.
