50 Cent backs Bally’s expansion in Shreveport while navigating tension with city leadership over his massive G-Unit entertainment development projects.
50 Cent is doubling down on Shreveport even as tension with the city’s leadership threatens to derail his massive entertainment empire.
Bally’s Corporation just completed its $30 million acquisition of Sam’s Town Hotel and Casino on August 1, and the rapper wasted no time expressing enthusiasm about collaborating with the new ownership to expand entertainment options across the Louisiana city.
His statement, according to KTAL News, emphasized his commitment to building something that will benefit the community for years to come.
“I’m excited for Bally’s expansion in Shreveport as we continue investing in the city’s future,” 50 Cent said. “Together, we have an opportunity to create new entertainment, dining and retail experiences that attract visitors, support local businesses and contribute to Shreveport’s continued growth. I look forward to working with Bally’s to help build something that benefits the community for years to come.”

But here’s where it gets complicated.
Just weeks earlier, 50 Cent posted a cryptic message on Instagram suggesting he might pull back from his Red River District project, claiming that certain people in Shreveport “just don’t want things to get better.”
The post sparked immediate concern about whether his multibillion-dollar vision for the city was crumbling. Mayor Tom Arceneaux claimed his representatives had been in contact with 50 Cent’s team, but the rapper quickly disputed it, saying his lawyers hadn’t heard from anyone in city government.
Despite the friction, 50 Cent’s G-Unit continues moving forward with three major venues in downtown Shreveport.
G Stage Arena is roughly 20 to 25 percent complete, G-Unit Studios sits at 10 percent, and G Dome is between 15 and 20 percent complete.
The rapper also announced a partnership with Samsung to install state-of-the-art LED displays across all his development projects, bringing cutting-edge technology to the region.
His Planet Hollywood collaboration with Robert Earl marked a $100 million deal announced in March 2026, with plans to expand the PH Live entertainment concept specifically to Shreveport alongside his existing ventures.
50 Cent has locked in $124 million in state funding and has personally invested millions in downtown properties.
According to NBC News, the economic impact study commissioned by G-Unit estimated the entire project would generate $18.8 billion in economic impact and support around 6,000 jobs over the next 20 years
