Donald Trump Enters Power-Saving Mode During RFK Jr. Speech On National Lazy Day

Donald Trump appears to take a public nap as RFK Jr. speaks, extending a White House pattern that keeps feeding sleep jokes.

Donald Trump took a big public nap Monday, appearing to lose his fight with sleep before an Oval Office audience.

Trump repeatedly appeared to drift during the roughly 40-minute ceremony while Robert F. Kennedy Jr. spoke. His eyelids kept staging quiet walkouts, then returning whenever applause or a question apparently reminded them that cameras were still rolling.

The gathering showcased Trump’s executive order reducing federal childhood vaccine recommendations from 17 diseases to 11.

Reuters reported that the order also urges separate appointments for measles, mumps and rubella shots, despite warnings from public health experts.

Trump remained awake long enough to deliver his disputed medical theory with considerable confidence during the official White House video.

“Effective immediately, my administration is recognizing gold standard childhood vaccine recommendations for only 11 core vaccinations against the most serious and dangerous diseases, along with the MMR, which hopefully will be split up.”

“The MMR we wanted in three separate vaccinations, given at separate times. Together there could be a possibility they’re quite lethal, and separately, it looks like they are not at all lethal, but just very effective.”

Cameras found a livelier subplot as Trump’s chin dipped and his eyes stayed closed while Kennedy handled the microphone nearby.

The White House had not publicly explained Monday’s sleepy display by publication time, leaving viewers to diagnose an urgent shortage of pillows.

Trump already supplied one possible excuse in January after another televised Cabinet meeting produced familiar closed-eye footage.

“Some people said, he closed his eyes. Look, it got pretty boring,” Trump told laughing officials, according to Reuters. “I didn’t sleep. I just closed them because I wanted to get the hell outta here. I didn’t sleep, by the way. I don’t sleep much.”

“He’s not asleep. He’s got his eyes closed and his head leaned back … and, you know, he’s fine,” chief of staff Susie Wiles told People last December.

The recurring visuals carry extra comedy because Trump spent years calling Joe Biden “Sleepy Joe” while questioning his predecessor’s stamina.
