The Yorkshire-formed indie band has now earned two chart-topping albums in the U.K., following its 2023 collection What’s Rock and Roll? The group also hit No. 2 in 2024 with Ballad of a Bystander.
Speaking about the achievement to the Official Charts company, The Reytons’ frontman Jonny Yerrell said, “This week has been overwhelming. The love and support we have felt from our community has been incredible. This has to be the first album in history to reach No. 1 in the Official Charts without a single play on mainstream radio! I wouldn’t change a thing, it’s been unapologetically us, Rotherham and Reytons.”
The group was in a tight race throughout the week with R&B trio FLO, who was at No. 2 in the midweeks. FLO’s Therapy at the Club eventually landed at No. 5 with its biggest opening week sales to date; its 2024 debut, Access All Areas, closed at No. 3.
Michael Jackson’s The Essential greatest hits collection remains at No. 2, followed by Olivia Rodrigo’s you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love at No. 3. Ariana Grande’s petal closes at No. 4, three spots down from her No. 1 win last week; on Saturday (Aug. 15), she kicks off her 10-night stand at London’s O2 Arena.
Role Model’s third album, Chuck Timely & The Hourglass, earns the singer-songwriter born Tucker Pillsbury his first-ever appearance on the Official Albums Chart, landing at No. 6.
Welsh dance duo Overmono earns its second top 20 album with Pure Devotion (No. 12), which joins the pair’s 2023 LP Good Lies (No. 11). British band Man/Woman/Chainsaw scores its first-ever top 40 with Cannonball, and Liverpool group Keyside finish at No. 38 with its self-titled debut.
