beabadoobee’s ‘Pylon’ Makes Top 10 Debut on 7 Billboard Album Charts

Singer/songwriter beabadoobee sees her new studio album Pylon debut in the top 10 on seven Billboard charts (dated Oct. 3), including a No. 2 start on Top Album Sales.

The set launches with 25,000 copies sold in the United States in the week ending Sept. 24, according to Luminate, marking her best sales week yet. First-week sales were aided by the album’s availability across 10 vinyl variants (including signed editions), three CD variants (including a signed edition), two cassettes and a download.

Pylon also launches at No. 7 on the overall Billboard 200 with 36,000 equivalent album units earned (inclusive of the 25,000 in album sales), marking beabadoobee’s first top 10 on the tally.

In total, the set nabs top 10 entries across seven charts: Top Album Sales, the Billboard 200, Vinyl Albums (No. 2 with 16,000 sold, her best week on vinyl), Indie Store Album Sales (No. 4), Top Rock & Alternative Albums (No. 3), Top Rock Albums (No. 2) and Top Alternative Albums (No. 3).

Pylon is among nine albums that debut in the top 10 on a very busy Top Album Sales chart, led by the chart-topping bow of Miley’s Bass Persuades. Also starting in the top 10: new releases from Riley Green, Anthrax, Carly Rae Jepsen, EVAN, Luke Bryan, Lizzy McAlpin and Noah Kahan.

Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart ranks the top-selling albums of the week based only on pure album sales. The Vinyl Albums and Indie Store Album Sales charts rank the week’s top-sellers on vinyl, and at indie and small chain record stores, respectively. The Top Rock & Alternative Albums, Top Rock Albums, Top Alternative Albums and Billboard 200 charts rank the week’s most popular rock and alternative, rock, alternative, and overall albums, by equivalent album units earned, respectively. Equivalent album units comprise album sales, track equivalent albums [TEA] and streaming equivalent albums [SEA]. Each unit equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 2,500 ad-supported or 1,000 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album.
