Long Beach Honors Snoop Dogg With Historic Key To The City

Snoop Dogg receives the key to the city of Long Beach from Mayor Rex Richardson after headlining the F&M Bank Amphitheater.
Snoop Dogg walked off the stage at Long Beach’s brand-new F&M Bank Amphitheater over the weekend and straight into history.
Mayor Rex Richardson met him there with something that’s been a long time coming: the key to the city.
After 11,000 people packed the waterfront venue to watch the hometown legend perform, the moment felt inevitable. This wasn’t just about a concert or a new building.
This was Long Beach officially recognizing one of its most important cultural exports. Richardson didn’t hold back when he took the stage.
“Long Beach created the culture, and Snoop Dogg shared it with the world,” he said.
He emphasized that presenting Snoop with the key recognized not only his extraordinary achievements in music, entertainment, and business, but also the authenticity, creativity, and pride he’s brought to Long Beach on the global stage for decades.
The F&M Bank Amphitheater itself is a statement.
The $21 million venue sits right on the waterfront, with the iconic Queen Mary as its backdrop, and holds 11,000 people, serving as the city’s first-ever large-scale outdoor music venue.
It’s also the second-largest outdoor amphitheater in Los Angeles County. The sound system is world-class, the sightlines are clean, and the whole operation ran smoothly for opening night.
Snoop brought the energy you’d expect from a homecoming show. He performed with special guests, dancers, and even had a lowrider on stage as a prop.
The crowd was vibing the entire time, and the venue delivered on every front. Parking was organized, bathrooms had no lines, and the food options were solid. Long Beach Transit offered $5 roundtrip rides for concertgoers, making it accessible for people across the city.
What makes this moment bigger than just one concert is what it represents for Long Beach’s future.
The amphitheater’s 2026 lineup already includes Ice Cube, Lil Wayne, Toto, Luke Bryan, Mötley Crüe, and dozens of other major acts.
City leaders are positioning this venue as a cornerstone of Long Beach’s transformation into a premier regional entertainment hub.
