Meek Mill’s Former Friend Sentenced To 8 Years For Stealing Crabs TVs And $230K In Dimes

Once known as one of Meek Mill’s closest childhood friends, Salahudin “Dean” Reddy is headed to federal prison for eight summers.
Salahudin “Dean” Reddy, the former childhood friend and one-time Meek Mill Dreamchaser, has been sentenced to nearly eight years in federal prison for his role in a cargo theft operation that stole more than $1.5 million worth of merchandise.
Federal prosecutors in Philadelphia announced Thursday that Reddy, 39, received a 94-month prison sentence from Chief U.S. District Judge Wendy Beetlestone. He will also serve three years of supervised release after completing his prison term.
The sentencing marks another dramatic chapter in the story of a man once closely tied to Meek Mill’s Dreamchasers circle before their friendship unraveled in spectacular fashion.
According to federal authorities, Reddy participated in a large-scale cargo theft conspiracy that operated throughout the Philadelphia area between January and July 2023. Prosecutors said members of the crew targeted tractor trailers carrying interstate shipments, striking when vehicles were left unattended overnight or while drivers slept.
Using bolt cutters and other tools, the group allegedly broke into trailers and removed valuable cargo before reselling the merchandise through local contacts.
Court records show Reddy admitted participating in several high-dollar thefts, including the theft of hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of frozen crab legs on April 4 and April 6, 2023. He also admitted involvement in the theft of more than $360,000 worth of Samsung televisions on April 10, 2023.
Perhaps the most unusual score came just days later when members of the conspiracy stole more than $230,000 worth of U.S. dimes from an interstate shipment.
Federal prosecutors said the theft ring victimized more than 10 businesses and organizations, resulting in losses exceeding $1.5 million.
Reddy pleaded guilty in March to conspiracy, four counts of theft from interstate shipments, theft of government money, possession of stolen government money and possession of items taken during interstate shipment thefts.
The name Dean became familiar long before his legal quandary.
In 2024, he surfaced in a widely discussed interview with DJ Akademiks, where he detailed the collapse of his longtime friendship with Meek Mill and accused the rapper of turning against former associates. The beef spilled onto social media and eventually pulled Wale into the controversy after the MMG rapper was photographed spending time with Dean.
Meek even criticized Wale over the association, triggering a back-and-forth between the former MMG members. Dean later released a diss record titled “Stay Reddy” aimed at Meek, cementing the rift between the former friends.
