Gunna Adds Tennis To His Fitness Arsenal Amid “Wunnathon” Plans

Gunna’s trading tennis rackets for running shoes and planning a full marathon called the Wunnathon as his fitness movement keeps growing.
Gunna is swapping the studio for the tennis court these days, and he’s got bigger fitness goals on the horizon that go way beyond the 5K runs that made him a wellness icon.
The rapper’s latest move into tennis comes as he’s seriously considering launching a full marathon experience he’s calling the Wunnathon, marking the next evolution of his fitness empire, which began when his world was falling apart.
Four years ago, when legal chaos surrounded his YSL RICO case, Gunna discovered that running wasn’t just exercise. It was survival.
He entered an Alford plea to the racketeering charge, meaning he didn’t admit guilt but acknowledged prosecutors had evidence against him.
That plea deal freed him from jail and allowed him to rebuild his life through discipline and movement.
“I’m in a good space, a good mental space right now,” he explained in his recent Men’s Health interview. “It’s not just because of the music. It’s because of the discipline. It’s because of the journey. I feel like it goes together now. Can’t do one or the other. Fitness and music go together for me.”
What started as solo runs transformed into a movement. His Wunna Run 5K launched in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park in September 2025 and has since expanded to Toronto, Washington, D.C., Miami, Atlanta, London, Johannesburg, Houston, and Los Angeles, with thousands of participants joining him.
Under Armour noticed and became an official sponsor. The rapper works out five to six days a week with trainer Dustin Enriquez, alternating between strength training, cardio intervals, and boxing sessions.
“Working out helps me as a performer with my breathing, my stamina,” Gunna said. “I can move more, engage more, and give my full energy.”
His fitness quest addresses a gap in the Black community that he’s been vocal about.
“We were not taught fitness like that,” he explained. “You got to be, like, that one who really didn’t go and hang out with the other friends. You stayed in the backyard and played basketball. You kept going to practice, to the football field. It wasn’t for everybody.”
By making fitness accessible and community-focused, Gunna’s reframing what wellness looks like in Hip-Hop culture.
