Megan Thee Stallion Cancels Today’s Moulin Rouge Broadway Shows

Megan Thee Stallion won’t perform in today’s Moulin Rouge Broadway shows after being hospitalized mid-performance last night.
Megan Thee Stallion won’t be taking the stage at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre today after getting rushed to a hospital last night when she fell ill mid-performance.
The Broadway production’s website confirmed that Zidler will not be played by her in either the 2 P.M. or 8 P.M. performances on April 1. A message reading “Important Information” pops up when fans try to purchase tickets, stating the change directly.
Her friend and hairstylist, Kellon Deryck, posted on social media, asking everyone to pray for Megan, revealing that the entire crew was at the hospital with her.
A spokesperson for the show explained that “Megan started feeling very ill and was promptly transported to a local hospital, where her symptoms are currently being evaluated.”
Details about what caused the illness haven’t been released yet, and the production is still evaluating her status for Thursday’s evening show.
Megan’s Broadway debut just happened last week when she took on the role of nightclub owner Zidler, making history as the first female-identifying performer to play the character.
The energy she brought to the stage had audiences going wild, and she’s been treating each crowd to a medley of three of her own hits during the curtain call.
She announced back in February that she’d be doing a limited eight-week engagement running from March 24 through May 17, and her Broadway debut has been a major moment for the production.
The Zidler character has been played by everyone from Jim Broadbent in the 2001 film to Danny Burstein, Austin Durant, Eric Anderson, Boy George, Tituss Burgess and Bob the Drag Queen on Broadway over the years.
Fans were thrilled about her casting and the boost it’s brought to the show’s energy and ticket sales.
The production hasn’t indicated whether she’ll be absent from Thursday evening’s performance as of Wednesday morning.
