Tiger Woods is stepping away from golf to seek treatment after his DUI arrest and rollover crash in Florida last week.
Tiger Woods just announced he’s stepping away from golf to seek treatment after his arrest on DUI charges following a serious car crash in Florida last Friday.
The golf legend’s Land Rover hit a pressure-cleaner truck’s trailer at high speeds on South Beach Road in Jupiter Island, causing his vehicle to roll over and leaving him crawling out the passenger side.
Authorities determined he was impaired despite a breathalyzer test showing 0.0 alcohol content, and he refused a urine test at the scene.
In his statement posted Tuesday, Woods wrote, “I know and I understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today. I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health. This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery.”

He’s asking for privacy for himself and his family during this time, and he won’t be attending next week’s Masters Tournament in any capacity.
This marks the third major incident involving Woods behind the wheel.
Back in 2021, he was involved in a rollover crash in Los Angeles, where police found an empty pharmaceutical bottle in his vehicle.
Before that, in 2017, he was found asleep at the wheel in Florida and arrested for DUI, with Ambien, Vicodin, and THC discovered in his system at the time.
He checked into a rehabilitation clinic that year following that arrest.
The timing of this incident is particularly significant since it comes just days before the Masters, one of golf’s most prestigious tournaments.
Woods has had a complicated relationship with the sport in recent years, dealing with injuries and personal struggles that have kept him off the course for extended periods.
His decision to step away now signals a serious commitment to addressing whatever issues led to this crash and his arrest.
