Nick Cannon Reveals Why He’s Protective Of His Daughter But Not His Son

Nick Cannon admits he’s got completely different dating rules for his 15-year-old twins, and he’s not even trying to hide the double standard.
Nick Cannon just admitted to something that’s got people questioning his whole parenting playbook.
The 45-year-old entertainer revealed on the TMZ Podcast that he’s totally cool with his 15-year-old son Moroccan dating and actively encouraging it, but his twin sister Monroe? She’s completely locked down from the dating world.
When asked if he’s applying the same rules to both kids, Cannon didn’t dance around it. “It’s absolutely a double standard,” he said straight up.
His reasoning came down to protection and fear. Cannon explained that parenting sons and daughters requires completely different approaches because there are “certain types of individuals” he wants to keep his daughter away from.
He went on to paint a worst-case scenario that revealed just how deep his anxiety runs.
“If somebody puts their hands on my daughter, I’m going to jail,” Cannon stated. “I’m going to jail for forever.”
That’s the kind of protective rage that shows where his head’s really at with Monroe’s dating life.
For his son, the concerns are totally different. Cannon isn’t worried about Moroccan getting played or manipulated because, as he put it, “he’s got a lot of money. His mama’s Mariah Carey.”
The financial security angle removes one layer of worry, but it also highlights the core issue people are calling him out on. He’s operating from a place of fear about his daughter’s vulnerability while assuming his son’s resources will protect him.
Cannon did mention having a “deal” with Monroe where she can date if she can explain what’ll happen on those dates, but that’s still a gate he’s not putting on Moroccan.
The context here gets interesting when you look at Cannon’s bigger picture.
He’s got 12 kids with six different women and has publicly stated he’s open to having more children in the future. That history might actually explain his protective stance toward Monroe.
When you’ve fathered that many children across that many relationships, maybe the fear of your daughter meeting someone like you becomes real.
