‘I hope you charge them a WILD cleaning fee.’
This woman was surprised to know she wasn’t the only one in this apartment. She walked in to do a cleaning of the space when something jumped out at her. Luckily, it was just as scared of her as she was of it.
“I screamed so loud,” Chyna (@noluv.china) says. She explains that she was checking the place out before doing a cleaning of the apartment. She says she went to check behind the bathroom door and found something surprising.
“Shoved up in the corner, there was a cat. I screamed and fell, and the cat jumped at me because we both scared each other. She took off running back in here. She climbed the wall,” Chyna says. Then, she shows the cat curled up on a shelf in the closet.
“They’ve left you behind. That’s so mean,” Chyna says. Based on this comment, it seems that Chyna is cleaning an apartment that people recently moved out of before someone else moves in. The cat looks friendly. Chyna gently pets it, and the cat seems to be indulging in the affection. The cat has been affectionately called “Cleaning Kitty” by Chyna and her viewers.
Viewers are concerned for the cat and happy that Chyna seems to want to help it.
“Now ur coming home w me’ is all I needed to hear,” says one commenter.
“I hope you charge them a WILD cleaning fee,” another person says.
“Please report them to authorities. Thank you so much for saving her,” someone else says.
“Realtor here, you would be surprised and disappointed to find out how often this happens,” chimes in another viewer.
The video has over 6.9 million views and 1.2 million likes as of this writing.
Is Leaving Pets Behind a Common Practice?
According to PETA, yes. Moving is a common reason people either leave pets behind or bring them to a shelter. PETA lists the following reasons why moving is often cited as a cause for donating pets to shelters (or simply abandoning them), based on their shelter intake papers:
- “Moving out of state and cannot take cat.”
- “New landlord does not allow dogs.”
- “Found cat in apartment next door after neighbor moved out.”
- “No space in new home for dog.”
- Someone who has allergies is moving into a new household
However, PETA notes that oftentimes people use moving as an excuse to get rid of pets due to behavioral issues like an animal being violent or having excessive barking/meowing. The article also urges pet owners to have adequate animal planning before getting a pet to avoid them ending up in a shelter.
Apartment Cat Makes it Home
In a follow-up video, Chyna explains the real reason Cleaning Kitty was in the apartment. It turns out that Cleaning Kitty actually belongs to a neighbor. Chyna says she saw a flyer about the cat being lost, and she reached out to the owner. Turns out the cat’s actual name is Kitty, and she is just two years old.
“So, I was able to return her, and they were really grateful, and I’m just happy I was able to do that. … So, I was gonna keep her. I was gonna take her home,” Chyna explains, while adding that she has a big dog and wasn’t too sure how the cat and dog would get along. However, a backup option was going to be giving the cat to her grandmother. Luckily, the cat was able to be returned to its original home.
AllHipHop has reached out to Chyna for comment via TikTok direct message and comment. This story will be updated if she responds.
