Tupac Joins “Stranger Than Heaven” As Playable Character In 2027

Snoop Dogg just announced Tupac will be a playable character in Sega’s Stranger Than Heaven, dropping January 15, 2027.

Snoop Dogg just made one of the wildest announcements in gaming history, revealing that Tupac will be a playable character in Sega’s upcoming action game “Stranger Than Heaven.”

The West Coast legend took the stage at Summer Game Fest 2026 on June 5 to break the news, and it’s the kind of move that only Snoop could pull off.

Tupac’s character goes by the name Amaru, which is his actual middle name, and the whole thing happened with full blessing from his estate, Amaru Entertainment.

RGG Studio, the team behind the legendary “Yakuza” and “Like a Dragon” franchises, worked directly with Tupac’s estate to design the character without using any AI.

They pulled from archival footage and photographs to get every detail right, treating his legacy with the respect it deserves. Snoop explained it perfectly on stage, saying “his likeness and his spirit still lives on” and that it just made sense to include him in the project.

The game’s got serious star power beyond Tupac.

Snoop’s bringing his son, Cordell Broadus, into the mix as a playable character. The game is described as a fifty-year action-adventure saga spanning five cities and different eras of modern Japan, opening in 1915 with a character caught between American and Japanese identity.

“Stranger Than Heaven” drops January 15, 2027, on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
