Uganda’s military chief publicly demands Jay-Z surrender Beyoncé or face combat, escalating diplomatic tensions with bizarre social media threats.
Jay-Z might want to reconsider any plans to relocate his family to Uganda after a military chief’s recent social media tirade.
General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, who leads Uganda’s armed forces and is the son of President Yoweri Museveni, posted a series of X messages declaring his intention to marry Beyoncé and challenging the rapper to combat over her.

The general’s threats represent a serious diplomatic concern that extends far beyond typical celebrity gossip.
Kainerugaba’s statements included explicit demands that Jay-Z surrender his wife, with the alternative being a physical confrontation in Uganda where “the winner takes Beyoncé.”
He also boasted about his wealth, claiming ownership of thousands of Ankole cattle made him wealthier than the music mogul. The general even suggested he’d escalate the matter to the United Nations, signaling how seriously he intended his remarks.
According to Daily Post Nigeria, Kainerugaba wrote that Jay-Z was “poor because he doesn’t own Ankole cattle.”
This isn’t Kainerugaba’s first controversial outburst.
In 2022, he claimed Uganda’s military could capture Kenya’s capital Nairobi within two weeks, forcing Uganda’s government to apologize to Kenya for the inflammatory remarks.
Later that same year, he proposed paying bride price in Ankole cattle for Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, a suggestion her office quickly dismissed.
In 2025, he ordered female soldiers to wear skirts instead of trousers during military parades, threatening commanders with disciplinary action if they refused.
Meanwhile, Jay-Z and Beyoncé have been exploring international real estate opportunities, though not necessarily in Africa.
The couple has been eyeing property in the English Cotswolds, where they’re reportedly in final stages of purchasing 58 acres in Oxfordshire.
The couple has no current plans to relocate to Africa, but their international expansion strategy demonstrates their interest in establishing residences across multiple continents.
