IShowSpeed & Burna Boy Set To Redefine Sports Entertainment At World Cup

IShowSpeed and Burna Boy are bringing generational star power to the World Cup’s biggest moments on July 19.
IShowSpeed is about to take the World Cup stage on one of the biggest nights in sports history, and the internet sensation’s rise to this moment is nothing short of legendary.
The 21-year-old streamer and musician has gone from gaming streams to becoming FIFA’s most influential digital creator, and now he’s performing at the closing ceremony on July 19 at MetLife Stadium alongside Tom Cruise, Robbie Williams, and Laura Pausini.
His journey from Fortnite and Roblox content to 50 million YouTube subscribers represents a complete shift in how entertainment and sports intersect in 2026.
IShowSpeed’s ascent happened at lightning speed. Starting as a gaming streamer, he built his empire on raw energy and authenticity that resonated with millions globally.
By 2026, he’d become the first Black creator to reach 50 million YouTube subscribers, earned a spot on TIME100’s Most Influential People in Sports, and released “Champions” on the official FIFA World Cup 2026 album.
FIFA didn’t just invite him to perform; they recognized him as the voice of a generation that watches soccer differently from their parents. His closing ceremony performance represents a cultural moment where streaming and traditional sports finally merged completely.
But IShowSpeed isn’t the only artist carrying the torch for a new generation at this tournament.
Burna Boy, the Nigerian Afrobeats superstar, is headlining the historic first-ever World Cup final halftime show on July 19, sharing the stage with Madonna, Shakira, Justin Bieber, BTS, Coldplay, and others.
Burna Boy’s path to this moment started in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, where he built himself into one of Africa’s biggest exports. His hits like “Ye,” “Anybody,” and “On the Low” made him a global force, and by 2026, he’d become the first African artist to surpass 50 million monthly Spotify listeners.
The halftime show is extended to 30 minutes, breaking World Cup protocol, and Burna Boy’s inclusion signals that Afrobeats has become central to global pop culture.
The final itself is shaping up to be historic.
Spain advanced to the final after defeating France 2-0 in the semifinals on July 14, while England and Argentina are battling for the other spot on July 15 in Atlanta.
The winner faces Spain on July 19 in what’s projected to draw over 1.5 billion viewers globally, dwarfing even the Super Bowl’s typical 125 million audience.
The 2022 final reached 1.42 billion people across all platforms, and this year’s tournament has already accumulated 11.53 billion total viewers after 96 matches.
The final kicks off at 3 p.m. ET on FOX and Telemundo, with Jennifer Hudson performing the U.S. national anthem beforehand.
