38 Spesh Won’t Stop: “Fools Mate” Video Drops As Jadakiss, Fat Joe, Jim Jones Stay Silent

Rochester’s 38 Spesh drops the “Fools Mate” video and performs the diss at Summer Jam while Jadakiss, Fat Joe and Jim Jones stay quiet.

38 Spesh dropped the video for “Fools Mate” this morning, and the Rochester rapper isn’t leaving any daylight between himself and three of New York’s biggest names.

The AraabMUZIK-produced track is a full-scale diss aimed at Jadakiss, Fat Joe and Jim Jones, with chess-themed visuals and skits shot in Spesh’s hometown backing up every bar.

He fires at Jones on multiple fronts, jabbing at his finances, his street credibility and his personal life.

He questions Jadakiss’s independence, and he takes a direct swing at Fat Joe’s physical appearance. None of them have responded yet with a diss track of their own, but Spesh’s name has been ringing off for three days straight.

The beef has roots in a grievance Spesh aired publicly earlier this year on the BagFuel podcast, where he claimed that after he and Jadakiss both appeared on Benny the Butcher’s “Sunday School,” Kiss quietly stopped working with him.

“I smoked the record, and Kiss never did a song with me again,” Spesh said.

Kiss eventually responded, telling people he was headed to the studio to do some “samurai swording,” then followed through with bars on Fat Joe’s “The Aroma” alongside Stove God Cooks, taking an oblique shot at Spesh: “Is this about a verse or is this about a career?”

Jim Jones inserted himself by jumping in to defend Jadakiss, and Spesh turned around and claimed Jones once opened for him in front of about 1,000 people.

The situation hit a new peak at Hot 97’s Summer Jam at the Prudential Center on July 24.

Before Spesh even took the stage, all three of his targets had issued pointed warnings. Fat Joe posted, “Don’t believe you can disrespect Fat Joe and not run into the militia.”

Jadakiss followed with a cryptic Instagram message: “I pray you have a SAFE day today. Don’t run into the militia or any landmines.”

Spesh walked out anyway and performed “Fools Mate” acapella, then went backstage and addressed the crowd again: “We looking for the militia. Where the militia and the landmines at?”

He left the building without incident.
