Afroman Refusing To Leave Adams County After Beating & Humiliating Cops Who Harrassed Him

Afroman’s coming after the deputy who orchestrated the raid that cost him money, customers, and years of legal battles.

Afroman filed a lawsuit against former Adams County Deputy Brian Newland over $400 he claims was stolen during an August 2022 raid that found absolutely nothing.

Four months after a jury sided with him completely in a high-profile defamation trial, the rapper’s taking his legal battle to the next level and targeting the specific officer he says orchestrated the entire operation.

He’s pointing directly at Newland as the architect.

“It was his idea to raid my house. He handled the money. So, he took it. He kicked down the door. This whole thing was motivated, inspired, and carried out by Brian Newland,” Afroman said.

The 2022 raid came down hard. Deputies showed up with a warrant citing drug trafficking and kidnapping as probable cause, but when they kicked down his door and tore through his home, they found zero evidence of any criminal activity and filed zero charges.

His wife and kids, ages 10 and 12, were home when it happened. The deputies broke his front gate, busted down his door, and damaged property throughout the house.

They seized thousands in cash that Afroman said was payment for a gig, but when he went to pick it up, the money came back $400 short.

Newland took responsibility for miscounting it on the stand during the trial.

Afroman used his home surveillance footage to create the 2023 album Lemon Pound Cake, complete with music videos that mocked the raid.

The video’s been viewed over 3.8 million times.

Seven deputies sued him for $3.9 million, claiming defamation and invasion of privacy. In March 2026, an Adams County jury rejected every single claim and sided entirely with Afroman.

Now he’s going after Newland directly.

“I’m suing for the attorney fees I had to pay. All of this cost me money,” Afroman said in the exclusive interview. “And I shouldn’t have to pay out a whole bunch of money because you raided me wrong in the first place.”

The financial damage extended beyond legal bills.

“Those allegations, it made some of my customers postpone and cancel events,” he explained. “So, by them yelling out false information, they scared away some of my clientele and I need to be compensated for the clientele they scared away.”

Afroman sees this as bigger than money.

“By using my freedom of speech, we the people checked the government that was in the wrong this particular time,” he said. “America has to deal with the police. So, how many people have gotten robbed by police officers? How much injustice has gone on? And they don’t got the platform to talk it.”

Despite everything, according to WCPO, Afroman’s staying in Adams County.

When asked if he’d still call it home, his answer was simple.

“If you beat up all the bullies at your school, would you leave? What you going to do? Go to another school and get into it with some more bullies?”
